On the recommendation of the 2nd Central Pay Commission in 1962 to provide common education with common syllabus and curriculum to the children of transferable Central government employees including defence personnel, the Ministry of Education, Government of India took over 25 regimental school run by defence establishment and converted into Central schools in 1963.
